BOREALIS FESTIVAL. BERGEN, NORWAY 2020
In March, F*Choir took up residency at Borealis Festival of experimental music and led a euphoric week-long programme called ‘Doing, not Saying’. It was the fruit of a year-long collaboration between Jenny, Borealis Festival and Papillon (a local organisation that works towards the social integration of migrant women in Norway), developing a 'Listening club'; a new arm of the festival focussed on collaborative practices, creating a listening space centred around sharing experiences.
The programme involved workshops run by F* members on percussive kickboxing, collaborative safe-space policy writing, yoga, vocal workshops, a Politics Swapping workshop with the Feminist Militia, sharing with fellow choir groups, queers, and feminists.
The opening performance of the festival took place ina museum full of whale bones and natural history. We rounded up the week with an epic final performance complete with light up shoes and a rowdy audience. Check it out
